Long Island is approximately 118 miles in length, with its eastern-most tip jetting into the Atlantic Ocean at Montauk Point.
At its widest point, north to south, the Island is nearly 23 miles wide. It is 1,401 square miles, and has a population of nearly 7.8 million people. Nearly 40% of New York State's population reside on Long Island.
Long Island is made up of two counties, which are Nassau and Suffolk, and two boroughs of New York City, which are Queens and Brooklyn, formerly known as Kings County and Queens County.
The Mission of LIH&LA is to provide a forum for members to discuss issues and common problems, exchange ideas, and provide programs and services which educate and inform the members and the hospitality & tourism industry, in general, about pertinent issues.
LIH&LA will also provide a strong voice regarding legislative and regulatory matters. Through these activities, LIH&LA seeks to promote a vibrant and growing hospitality & tourism industry on Long Island.
